There is a part of me that will miss being included in the frenzy that may happen on Tuesday while waiting to vote, however, I spent three hours today waiting to cast my absentee ballot. My job location is some miles from my poling station, and although my company has already said they will be lenient with employees who take time off to vote, I decided I would exercise my right in a different manner, encouraged by someone who works at the local county government. It was a glorious day today weatherwise, and when I saw all the vehicles and traffic being directed by a policeman, I knew I was in for a wait. It wasn't long before I struck up a conversation with my fellow person in line, and I found her to be a delightful individual. The conversation expanded to people both behind and in front of us, and we all enjoyed the joy of a young woman who had voted for the first time as she proudly showed off her "I voted" sticker. The conversation naturally veered towards leadership, (I am always willing to talk about the class in which I am enrolled) both on a local and national basis. The economy followed, and we all agreed the downfall didn't happen overnight, and the recovery will also not happen overnight. Twenty years ago, I obtained my right to vote by becoming an American Citizen. I am proud to have been able to exercise that right today.
